A couch is often an expensive investment, a showpiece in your living room or simply a place to hang out with family and friends. Keeping it clean is a high priority as it is usually a very highly trafficked piece of furniture. Ink is one of the most common stains and one of the more difficult to remove. It can be done, though, so don’t despair, even if your little one has drawn a complete map of your neighborhood all over your couch cushions. Remove the fabric cover from the affected couch cushion if possible. Place a clean towel on the underside of the fabric stain and spray the stain with warm water for a water-based ink stain. Blot at the stain while spraying. You are trying to flood the stain out of the fabric. Continue to blot as the ink runs out. Wash the cover in the washer with regular detergent after the stain is removed, or if the cover can’t come off, wash thoroughly with a sponge, dish detergent or shampoo and warm water.
