How Do You Remove Hard Water Stains From Painted Aluminum?
Painted aluminum, particularly in the bathroom or kitchen, may be susceptible to hard water stains. While typically not a tough task, removing hard water stains requires the proper type of cleaning agent on painted aluminum. Harsh agents will damage the paint and weak agents will not get the job done. Wearing the rubber gloves, mix the laundry detergent, trisodium phosphate, bleach and three quarts warm water together in the bucket. Swish the liquid around with your hands for 30 seconds. Dip your sponge in the cleaning solution. Apply the solution to the stain and let it sit for five minutes. Using the sponge, scrub the stain off the painted aluminum. You may need to repeat the process several times for tough stains. Rinse the painted aluminum with water and wipe it dry. Add a tablespoon of dish soap to approximately one gallon of water.
