How Do You Remove Gum From A Cotton/Poly Fabric?
Chewing gum is enjoyed by many people. However, when a wad of gum makes it from your mouth—or worse, someone else’s mouth—to your clothing, all the fun is gone. But gum does not have to ruin your cotton or poly clothing. In many cases, it can be removed. Allow the gum to dry a bit, then apply ice cubes and gently press on it until it becomes very hard. If this does not work, put the clothing item into the freezer until the gum becomes hard. Pry the gum from the clothing with a spoon or butter knife. Do so gently so you don’t damage or cut your clothing. If that does not work, spray window cleaner such as Windex to the gum. Scrape off the gum with a toothbrush. The window cleaner will make the gum form small balls as it falls away from the fabric. Pre-treat your clothing with detergent on the spot where you removed the gum. Then wash your clothing as usual.
