Grease stains are stubborn and often need to be attended to immediately before they set. A grease stain on pants that has been put through the wash and is still present is most likely not going to come out. A stain that is immediately acted upon, however, has a great chance for removal. You can remove grease stains from your favorite clothes with a few basic household products. Act quickly. As soon as the stain occurs, blot the excess grease from the pants with a dry paper towel. Do not rub the stain as it well only further set it. Shake talcum powder (baby powder) over the grease spot. Allow the powder to sit for 2 minutes and then brush off the powder. This helps to bring the stain to the surface of the cloth. Apply a small amount of liquid dishwashing soap onto the stain with your finger to break up the oil in the stain. Rinse the dishwashing liquid immediately with hot water. Launder the pants as you normally would to finish removing the stain.
