Installing the rear view mirror on your car is not a complicated task. However, you may be doing it several times if the installation button on the back of the rear view mirror is not prepped properly. The sun rays will hit the windshield and cause the glue to dry and get brittle. The other end result is that if the button is not cleaned properly, the new glue will stick to the old glue, causing it to not maintain its seal. Unscrew the metal button off the back of the rear view mirror with an Allen wrench. The button is easier to clean and to install once it is removed from the mirror. Mark the front of the button with a magic marker. The front of the button will be face-down on the mirror assembly. The back of the button sticks to the windshield.
