How Do You Remove Excess Sulfur From Plants With Epsom Salts?
If you have noticed your plants turning yellow and prematurely dropping their leaves, they most likely have an excess of sulfur. Sulfur in the form of sulfates is essential for plants to produce amino acids, but if it accumulates over time, it can become detrimental to your plants. Epsom salts, or magnesium sulfate, can help neutralize excess sulfur and boost your plants’ chlorophyll production at the same time. Plants cannot synthesize sulfur, only sulfates, and Epsom salts help boost healthy bacteria in the soil, which in turn break down sulfur into sulfates. Measure each plant to find its height in feet. Add one tablespoon of Epsom salts for every foot in plant height to the base of each plant. Two weeks from this day, you will add Epsom salts to your plants again. Repeat Step 2 for three months to remove excess sulfur. Mix two tablespoons of Epsom salts into a gallon of water in a gallon jug. Water your indoor plants with this mixture.
