Getting diesel oil in your hair can cause great discomfort. Fortunately, like most oils, diesel oil can be removed from your hair by using a clarifying shampoo. These shampoos contain high concentrations of surfactants, such as ammonium and sodium lauryl sulfate, which lift and remove stubborn oils, dirt and other buildup from your hair. However, after the diesel oil has been removed, its lingering smell may be another challenge to resolve. Tilt your head backward. Run plain, warm water over your hair for 2 to 3 minutes to remove any loose debris or dirt. Gently use your fingers to lift your hair and remove any oily residue that may have dried and hardened on your hair. Apply a quarter-size dollop of the clarifying shampoo to the palms of your hands.
