How Do You Remove Deep Stains From Dishes?

• For plastic dishes: After scrubbing the item as clean as you can, soak it overnight in a concentrated solution of denture cleaner. If there are rust-like stains, try scrubbing with Zud cleanser. • Alternately wash plastic dishes in the normal way. • Place plastic dishes in sunlight for an hour or two. The stronger the sunlight, the better, but a day on an inside window sill is good too. This removes tomato stains and helps remove odours. • For glass, ceramic, and stoneware dishes: After scrubbing, gently rub on some Zud cleanser. Bleach will remove stains from plastic, ceramic and metal. Use a very dilute solution, just a few drops of bleach in 3 cups or more of water. Let sit 30 minutes or so. You must rinse the item very well. You may want to wash it in the dishwasher after that. This method is especially effective to clean coffee & tea stains from cups.
