How Do You Remove Damaged Masonite Siding?
Masonite is a hardwood siding made from wood, wax and resins placed under extreme heat and pressure. Although it is considered durable, like other types of siding it is subject to dings, dents and damaged spots over the years. It is important to replace Masonite boards once moisture gains access to the interior wall behind the siding. Leaks can cause deterioration of the wooden framework of the home and damage drywall or paneling. Step 1 Measure the length of damaged clapboard. Widen the measurement so that each end meets with the nearest wall stud. Mark the end points with a pen or marker. Step 2 Run a sharp utility knife over the mark to cut the board all the way through. Be careful not to score the boards directly above or below the damaged one. Step 3 Use a small pry bar to wiggle the good clapboard loose that lies directly above the damaged one.
