If you want to change the look of your 80’s style room into something more modern, then change that old texture that falls off every time you bump it. There is a simple way to remove the old texture to improve the look and value of your home. Set up your drop cloths every where you are removing the old texture. You may want to remove large items from room for convenience. Start on one side of the ceiling and spray a fair amount of water from spray bottle onto the texture. I use warm water because it seems to work better. Use drywall knife and at a 30 to 45 degree angle lightly scrap off old texture where you sprayed the water. If texture left on ceiling just apply more water and scrap it off. Work your way evenly across the ceiling. I find it best to work from highest points if a vaulted ceiling. Watch for old texture to land on walls. It can easily be removed when “wet” but will dry hard and require some work if dry over time.
