How Do You Remove Cork Floor Tile?
Cork floor tiles are generally held to the floor with cork flooring adhesive, although some cork floors may be floating floors. A floating floor is not held to the subfloor with nails or glue and can be easily picked up. Cut one of the cork floor tiles with a knife to determine the type of floor you are trying to remove. If the tiles hold stubbornly to the floor when you try to lift them up, then they have been glued down and will require a little more effort to remove them from the subfloor. Cut one of the tiles in half with a knife and press the edge of a chisel as far underneath the tile as it will go. Tap the end of the chisel with a hammer two to three times to loosen the cork tile from the subfloor. If the tile looks as though it is about to break, remove the chisel and insert it underneath the tile a few inches away from the starting point. Tap the chisel with the hammer again and see if the tile pops off of the floor. Repeat this process until you have removed the first tile. O
