How Do You Remove Control Arm Bushing Bolts?
The control arms on your vehicle are critical to the proper operation of your front suspension, and if a ball joint goes out or the bushings need to be replaced, you must remove the control arms to do the job properly. But sometimes just getting out the bolts that secure the control arms to the frame is difficult. In this case, the project vehicle involves the upper control arms on a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado, but the process is similar for other vehicles as well. Step 1 Lift up the front of the vehicle, using the jack, and secure it on jack stands. Make sure the vehicle is completely secure on the jack stands before you crawl underneath it. Remove the front wheels, using the tire iron, and place them to the side, out of the workspace. Step 2 Place the jack underneath the lower control arm, and jack it up until it just contacts the arm.
