How Do You Remove Coffee Stains From Upholstery?
Sipping a cup of coffee while you read the morning paper in your favorite comfy chair is a great way to start the morning–unless of course you get distracted, the phone rings or someone bumps your arm and the coffee spills on the upholstery. Removing coffee stains requires quick action. Don’t wait for the stain to set. Blot up as much coffee as you can by pressing the spill with paper towels. Use new towels as each one gets dirty. Work from the outside of the stain towards the inside. Don’t scrub or rub–that just forces the coffee further into the fabric. Mix 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide, the kind you find in the first aid section of the drugstore, with 2 tbsp. of non-sudsy ammonia. Dip a white washcloth into the mixture and saturate the stained area. Place folded paper towels over the stain. Weigh down the towels with heavy books. Place a terry cloth towel between the paper towels and the book if you don’t want to get the book wet. Remove the towels after an hour. The stain will have
