When the handyman for my apartment building came by to unclog my sink, all he had was a bit of wire. No bad chemicals or expensive snakes. The next time my sink didn’t drain, I made my own. Super easy if not a little gross. Find yourself a metal coat hanger. Using the dykes or cutters, cut the coat hanger just below the hook. Use the pliers to straighten out the bends at the corners leaving you a nice long piece of stiff wire. On one end of the wire make as small of a 180 degree bend as possible. I used a set of needle nose pliers to bend around to make the hook. On the other end bend a hand length of wire 90 degrees in the same direction as the small hook. This allows you to have a reference for where the hook is when it’s stuffed down the drain and getting caught on stuff as you pull it out The toughest part on some of my drains was actually clearing out the drain entrance. Removing the plug involves some investigative work. A lot of drains covers just unscrew, although some have som
