If you are planning to remove that hideous tile from the wall of your bathroom as part of a home remodeling project here are some tips. Cover the floor up to the edge of the tile with a heavy painters drop cloth or tarp. Make sure any electrical outlets have been shut off at the breaker. Shut off all water lines that may be routed behind the wall. If the tile is laid up on cinder blocks or a concrete wall then you will have to chip each piece off with a chisel and mallet and depending on the kind of grout used this can be a lengthy, noisy, messy process. If the tile is on a backer board you will have to cut each section away. Chip off a tile and use a masonry hole saw to cut a 1″ or larger hole on through the backer board. Insert your sawzall (reciprocating saw) with a masonry blade, and cut outward from your pilot hole, into the grout lines and cut out a couple of tiles and the backer board behind them.
