How Do You Remove Ceramic Tile Grout With A Dremmel?
Dremel offers a selection of rotary tools and other types of tools for home use. Some are cordless and some look like dental drills. In this project we are using a multi-speed Dremel with an extension for easy handling and reaching into tight places. Dremel recommends two bits to remove grout around ceramic tiles: the 569 1/16th Carbide Grout Remover Bit and the 570 1/8th Carbide Grout Remover Bit. We are using the Dremel 4001XPR with a model 225 Plexi-Shaft. Clean the tile surface you will be working on, removing any obstruction. Insert your desired bit into the chuck all the way, then back it out about one quarter inch before tightening it down. (A test was done using several bits for different areas where the grout was tight or wide or even missing. With the engraver bits, do not run hard at the tip.
