How Do You Remove Ceramic Tile From A Tub Enclosure?
Before installing new tiles around a tub enclosure, the old tiles have to be removed. This requires removing any caulking that has been applied around the edge of the tub and the bottom of the tile. The grout that is around the joints of the tile will also need to be removed before you can remove the tile from the wall. Run a utility knife along the caulking at the edge of the tub and the bottom of the surround. This will cut the caulking and make it easier to remove when the tiles come out. Remove the grout from around the tile by using either a manual or automatic hand-held grout removal tool. Run the grout removal tool up and down over the grout. Place a ceramic chisel in the center of one of the tiles. Tap on the chisel with a hammer to create a hole in the tile. Continue tapping the chisel to expand the hole to the edges of the tile.
