Carpet fibers can burn or singe quickly even if the source of heat is on the carpet for only a moment. Irons can be used to help remove wax and other stains from carpet, but if left on too long or at too high a temperature setting, they can damage or burn your carpet. Iron burn stains on the carpet can be removed using supplies from your home and the hardware store. Sand away scorch marks in your carpet by rubbing the sandpaper back and forth over the burn stain. Vacuum up the sanded scorch stain dust using your household vacuum. Trim away remaining iron-burned carpet fibers with your scissors. Trim only the burned part of the fibers. Mix 1 part hydrogen peroxide to 10 parts cool water in a bucket. Saturate a cleaning cloth with the peroxide solution and blot at any remaining scorch marks, starting at the outside of the stain and working your way in. Spray the area with water to rinse. Blot up the liquid with clean cloths until there’s no more transfer of liquid to the cleaning cloths.
