Tinting can be removed from the rear window of an automobile, no matter how old or worn that tinting looks. Here’s how to do it properly. Remove the third brake light, speakers or anything else that may be obstructing the rear glass. Wet the outside of the rear glass. Cut open a garbage bag and lay it on the outside of the rear window. The bag should stick to the window with the help of the water. You can use masking tape if the bag is not sticking. Lay a tarp or cut garbage bag over the rear seat and deck of the car. This will keep the area clean of debris and protect it from cleaning agents. Spray a heavy amount of ammonia on the inside of the rear window. Open all of the doors and keep the car well ventilated when spraying the ammonia. Cover the inside of the rear window with another garbage bag so the ammonia will not evaporate.
