How Do You Remove An OTR GE Microwave?

Over-the-range (OTR) GE microwave ovens generally are hooked up to a hood exhaust and a power supply. Even if the vent is exhausted to the outside, the ductwork won’t need to be detached from the microwave when removing it because the ductwork is attached to an exhaust adapter in the upper cabinet. You may find duct tape, though. If the hood exhaust vents air back into the room through a filter, the removal is even simpler and the only connection you need to address is the power. Remove the grease filters from the microwave. Slide them to the side using the tabs. Pull them down and out. Unplug the power supply in the upper cabinet. Unscrew the two side self-aligning screws that attach the oven to the upper cabinet. Unscrew the center self-aligning screw. Hold the oven against the wall when you are doing this. You will find it easier with a helper. The microwave will remain hooked into the mounting plate at the back, but the top will become free and will tip forward if you don’t hold it
