How Do You Remove An MSI File?

The Windows Installer program in Windows operating systems such as Windows XP uses a file referred to as an MSI (Microsoft Installer package) to install new software applications. MSI files contain information and files that detail the steps the Windows installer program must take to install a particular application. MSI files remain on the operating system even after the installation is complete. However, you can remove an MSI file and all its associated files using the Windows Installer Clean-Up Utility. Step 1 Download the Windows Installer Clean-Up utility (see Resources for link). Click the link on the download page on the Microsoft website and save the file to your Windows desktop. Step 2 Double-click the utility setup icon on the desktop. The icon is labeled msicuu2.exe. Follow the prompts and the installation wizard instructions to install the utility. Click the “Finish” button in the installation wizard when it is finished. Step 3 Open the utility. Click Start > All Programs >
