How Do You Remove An LT1 Oil Pan?
The LT1 was a high performance V8 engine produced by General Motors in the 1990s and used in several sports-car applications including the Chevrolet Corvette and the Pontiac Trans Am. The LT1 is an evolution of the basic GM 350 c.i. (5.7 L) that added a powerful cooling system, allowing the engine to produce more power with a higher compression ratio. Removing the oil pan in your LT1 engine follows the same process, regardless of which vehicle it is mounted in. Park the vehicle on level ground and disconnect the negative battery cable. Lift the vehicle according to vehicle specifications, using the factory-recommended jacking points. Secure the vehicle with jack stands. Let the vehicle sit for 30 minutes so the engine can cool. Remove the oil pan drain plug and allow the oil to completely drain into the pan. Let the pan drain for 10 to 15 minutes to make sure all the oil is out of the pan. Detach the wiring harness connected to the pan and unbolt the catalytic converter. Carefully set
