How do you remove air filter housing on a 2001 pt cruiser Chrysler pt cruiser?

You can start by removing the top portion by unfastening the two metal clips on the sides. Then loosen the hose clamp at the back. The top will now lift completely off revealing the air filter. Remove the air filter. You will see a rubber spike inside the box at the back. What you can’t see is that this rubber piece fits snugly over a metal bracket underneath. This is the only connection point, so no tools are required. Simply grab both sides of the box and pull upward. This could all be done without separating the top and bottom of the air box as well, but space is tight as it is.
