How Do You Remove Adhesive From Steel Doors?
Tags and plastic film adhesive can be difficult to remove from steel doors, especially if they have been in high temperatures. Sometimes an adhesive residue is left on the steel. There are many products you can use to successfully remove adhesive from steel doors without damaging protective coating. Ventilate the area you’re working in. Spray the adhesive with a lubricant solvent containing petroleum distillates. Let it soak in for 10 minutes. Carefully remove the residue with a plastic scraper. Wash the remains away with a scrubbing cleanser, and rinse with cold water. Apply a citrus based hand cleaner or solvent to the adhesive. Let it set, then remove with a plastic scraper. Soak paper towel with rubbing alcohol and stick it to the adhesive for 15 minutes. Rewet the paper towel if necessary. Soak a rag or paper towel with ammonia and place it on the door for 15 minutes. Scrape the softened adhesive away with a plastic scraper. Apply nail polish remover with acetone to the adhesive.
