How Do You Remove A Transmission On A Chevrolet Silverado?
If your Silverado’s transmission is damaged, burned out, or you just want to replace it, you must remove it. Take adequate time to complete the job, and be prepared to lift the Chevy completely off of the ground to access the transmission. Step 1 Jack up the front end of the Chevy using the jack, one side at a time. Place jack stands under the truck on both sides at the support points. Step 2 Jack up the rear of the truck and place jack stands under each side of the differential, so that the entire Chevy is off the ground. Step 3 Position yourself under the Chevy looking up at the transmission. Remove the U-bolts with the wrench that connect the drive shaft to the differential. Remove the drive shaft from the differential by pulling it. Pull the drive shaft out of the transmission.
