Leaking water under your sink is often a result of a leaky basket strainer. Tearing apart and putting back together old fittings doesn’t necessarily call for a plumber. With a few simple tools, you can have the basket removed in no time. You may not necessarily have to replace the basket drain. If it isn’t worn out or damaged, you can simply clean it out with a solution of baking soda and water. Mix one cup baking soda with one gallon of water and clean the drain. You can also wash with vinegar after you have cleaned the drain to ensure that the drain is sanitary. Step 1 Check to see where the leak is coming from. Once you are sure the basket strainer is leaking, remove the strainer. You will need to use your wrench to remove the lock nuts.
