Nicotine coats everything with a film and has a bitter smell that permeates fabrics and other porous materials. There are some steps you can take to remove the odor of nicotine. Step 1 Wash all white curtains and other removable fabric and clothing with 1 cup of bleach, 1/4 cup of borax and one cup of laundry detergent. Keep the loads small, and rewash if necessary to remove nicotine odor. For colored fabric or clothing, add some odor remover, such as Febreeze, to remove nicotine odor and keep loads small.
