Take heed, as there is an easy way to rid your sewing machine of that musty, mildew smell. Sweep away dust and debris using a whisk broom or clean, unused paintbrush. You may also use canned air that is often used to clean computer keyboards. Remove screws from any compartments that are held shut. Open the compartment doors, but don’t remove or tamper with any of the mechanisms inside the sewing machine. Some machines have “trap doors” that screw in place and allow space to store bobbins.
