How Do You Remove A Mass Airflow Sensor On A Ford Windstar?
The Ford Windstar comes equipped with a 3.8 liter V-6 engine and a sequential port fuel injection system that uses a mass airflow sensor to monitor airflow into the engine. The mass airflow sensor uses a heated wire that is maintained at a constant resistance by varying the amount of current applied. As air cools the wire, the resistance drops, and it takes more current to keep the wire at the required resistance. Chemicals or debris in the air can contaminate these sensors. Cleaning the sensor is part of intake tract cleaning. Removal requires only basic tools and limited mechanical ability. Loosen the hose clamps with a screwdriver, and remove the flexible rubber hose that connects the air cleaner housing to the throttle body. Then release the clamp that holds the mass airflow sensor housing and air cleaner housing halves together, and slip the mass airflow sensor housing out of the clamp. Depress the release tab and pull to separate the mass airflow electrical connector. Remove the
