If you have a Kwikset deadbolt, consider removing it and re-keying it to enhance your home security. Step 1 Approach the door from the inside. Look at the Kwikset deadbolt and identify the two mounting screws that hold the two halves of the deadbolt unit together. Step 2 Use your Phillips head screwdriver and unscrew both mounting screws.
