How Do You Remove A Kenmore Washing Machine Agitator?
The agitator of a Kenmore washing machine occasionally stops working because the cams or directional cogs wear out. You can remove the agitator without a lot of trouble, giving you access to the parts for inspection or replacement. The agitator on the Kenmore washing machine can be removed in less than 15 minutes, saving you the time and expense of calling a repairman. Unplug the washing machine. Remove the fabric softener dispenser if the machine has one. Lift off the agitator cap by sliding a screwdriver into the slot between the agitator and the cap. Reach into the agitator top and pull up the barrier cap and its seal to remove them. Use a socket wrench with an extension to remove the stud and the seal that hold the agitator top to the shaft of the agitator base. Remove the agitator top by pulling it up off the agitator base. Turn the agitator top over so that the cam and the directional cogs slide out.
