How Do You Remove A Hard Drive From A Compaq Laptop?
Removing and replacing hard drives in laptop computers is a good way to upgrade the system because newer, faster hard drives keep temperatures down and increase the efficiency. In most Compaq laptops, the process only involves a few tools and a few steps. Turn the laptop over. There are four Torx screws to remove. There are two under the touch pad and two more at either corner, all on the side away from the screen. Remove the four screws. Turn the laptop right-side up. Unsnap the top of the laptop near the left front edge away from the screen. Continue to unsnap it until the entire top section of the laptop lifts up. Remove the three Torx screws that keep the hard drive secured. The hard drive is at the left. There is one screw under the touchpad and two more on the opposite long side of the hard drive. Unclip the hard drive cable. This will be a white or gray ribbon cable in the center of the laptop connected to the hard drive. Pull it away from the hard drive. Lift the hard drive out
