How Do You Remove A Garbage Disposer Flange?
Garbage disposers are very durable appliances, so much so that homeowners usually don’t give them a second thought because they usually work without incident. Since repairs are rare, many people are not experienced with the method for removing the disposer so that they may replace it, upgrade it or simply replace the rubber gasket. This may make it necessary for you to remove the garbage disposer flange. Disconnect the garbage disposer from the electrical outlet. Use a pipe wrench to remove the drain outlet pipe from the garbage disposer. Insert an Allen wrench into the hex fitting up near where the disposer and flange are joined, and turn it counterclockwise to remove the disposer. Hold a block of wood up against the flange, and tap on the wood with a hammer to knock the flange up into the sink without damaging it.
