How Do You Remove A Garbage Disposal?

0

The most common garbage disposals are the small ones that are located under your kitchen sink. These units are fairly easy to remove and replace. To remove your garbage disposal, first make sure the electricity is off that is going to it. Most of these units are 110w so there should only be 2 wires. Next unhook the 2 wires going to your garbage disposal and place wire caps back on the raw wires. There should be a drain coming out of the side. normally these are just connected with one nut. You should be able to get this off easily with a pair of pliers. The last step in removing your garbage disposal is to unscrew the screws at the top. Most disposals have 3 to 4 screws. Once the pressure is off of these screws, your disposal should screw off fairly easily. When installing your new disposal remember to wait until last to hook the electricity to it.
