Follow these simple steps to remove the clip from a Colt rifle simply and safely. Put the safety to the locked position on your Colt rifle. Treat the gun as though it were loaded making sure you never point the rifle at yourself, any other person or animal. Push down the magazine release. This can be found right in front of the trigger guard. Hold your other hand beneath the magazine to receive the clip upon release. Catch the clip. The magazine ejector springs will push the clip out and cause it to fall free or be easily removed.
