Whether you are changing out an old, worn blade for a new one or merely taking off the blade temporarily for cleaning, knowing how to dismantle your circular saw is essential to proper maintenance. Fortunately, most models are designed with ease of removal in mind, and are even equipped with their own special tools to remove the retaining nut and collar allowing the saws to be disassembled, reassembled and ready to cut in minutes. Turn off your circular saw and disconnect it from its power source before removing the blade. Place your unplugged circular saw on a sturdy table or work bench with the blade facing upwards. Lift up the spring-loaded blade guard so the the bottom of the saw blade is exposed. With a leather glove protecting your hand from the sharp saw teeth, grip the sides of the blade and hold it in place.
