How Do You Remove A Bumper Step Guard On A 2000 Chevy Silverado?
The rear bumper on a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado comes with a black plastic step guard that clips in place on the top of the metal bumper. This is designed to provide grip when stepping on the bumper, and as a piece of decorative trim. Some people like to paint this piece to match their vehicle, and to do that, you first have to take it off. Doing so can be done fairly easily with basic tools. Crawl underneath the rear bumper and look up at the underside of the bumper. Locate the plastic clips that hold the cap to the bumper. Start removing the cap by finding the clip furthest to the edge of one side of the bumper or the other. Use the pliers to pinch the plastic clip closed, then push the clip up through the metal bumper. Then place the flat head screwdriver between the bumper cap and the metal bumper so that the first clip doesn’t fall back into the bumper. Continue releasing clips, working from one side to the other, and continue using the flat head screwdriver to keep the cap apart fr
