How Do You Remove A Broken Ceramic Floor Tile?
Sometimes a tile just breaks, perhaps because the surface underneath has settled or was poorly prepared from the beginning. Dropping something heavy can crack a tile, too. Often, grout wears out before the tiles it surrounds, and a corner of beautiful tile chips off. Sometimes a tile simply lets go, becoming loose in its set. Any of these problems can be remedied with simple tools. Put on your face mask and safety glasses. Spread a dust cloth over nearby furniture and adjacent flooring. Remove edibles in range of dust clouds or grout chips. Take some exploratory taps on the top of the tile. If one place sounds hollow, begin there. Chip away remaining grout all around the tile, exposing its vertical edges. Set the chisel at a downward angle, sharp end digging toward the broken tile. Tap lightly with hammer. The goal is gradually to loosen the glue underneath that holds the tile down, hopefully without further breaking the tile. Move around the broken tile’s perimeter as you make headway
