How Do You Remove A Brad Nail Without Damaging The Wood?

0

Brad nails are often difficult to remove, as the head of a brad nail tends to bend or break off if you try to pull it out with a hammer. Further attempts on removing the headless nail often result in damaging the surrounding wood. Before you head to the lumber yard for a new piece of woodwork, use this handy trick to remove a brad nail without damaging the wood. Wrap a cloth around a block of wood and place the wood on the floor or wall near the nail. Grasp the head (or end if the head is missing) of the brad nail with a pair of pliers. Slide the claw of a hammer around the nail between the pliers and the wood. Pry the nail out by bracing the handle of the hammer against the block of wood and pressing down, using the wood to lever the nail out while securing the brad with the pliers.
