When you remove the lower control arm from your vehicle, you need to remove the bolt from the bushing assembly. On most control arms, the bolt slides through the center of the control arm bushing. In the center of the control arm, there is a rubber bushing that absorbs vibration and shock. Over time, the constant shock, vibration and twisting of the suspension can cause the rubber to become “fused” to the bolt. When this happens, you’ll most likely need to destroy the bolt to remove it from the bushing. Place the control arm in a bench vise and make sure that it is secure. Saw off both ends of the bolt that stick out of the bushing. Drill a third of the way through the center of the bolt still inside the bushing. Use a drill and a drill bit that is slightly smaller than the bolt. Place a center punch in the center of the bolt and hit the end of it with a hammer until the bolt comes out of the side of the bushing.
