How Do You Relocate Electrical Outlet Through Wall Studs?
Moving or relocating an electrical outlet is a typical project when you are involved in remodeling or simply need permanent access to electricity without the use of extension cords. The typical home outlet runs 110 volts and is wired with a three-wire cable, one hot wire, a neutral wire and a ground wire to complete the circuit. Consult with a licensed electrician before beginning any electrical work. Turn off the power to the outlet at the main circuit panel. The breakers are usually labeled on the inside cover of the door panel. Loosen and remove the screw from the center of the outlet cover using the screwdriver. Loosen and remove the screws from the top and bottom of the electrical outlet, and pull the outlet out of the electrical junction box as far as the wiring will allow.
