How Do You Relight Pilot Gas Logs?
Gas logs offer all the warmth and ambiance of a traditional wood burning fireplace without the work of chopping wood. In addition, since the logs don’t actually burn, you don’t have to clean up any ash or soot. While some gas logs have an automatic ignitor that lights the gas, others must be manually lit. The manually lit logs contain a pilot light, which you must relight if it goes out. Locate the main control knob on the fireplace and turn it to the word “Pilot.” The knob may be located inside the fireplace beside the logs or on the outside of the fireplace at the lower bottom of the hearth. Strike a long-handled match and insert the flame underneath the center of the logs while pushing in on the control knob with your other hand. Continue pushing in on the control knob and look under the bottom of the log to see when a blue flame appears.
