How Do You Relight A Gas Water Heater?
Nothing motivates you more than to wake up and take a nice hot shower in order to get ready for the day. The only problem is that sometimes the water in the shower is cold. When this occurs there’s usually no need to fret, (unless you haven’t paid your gas bill), because all it will take to get your shower hot and flowing again is for you to relight the spark. Lighting your pilot light on gas water heaters is simple and can save you a lot of time and money. Turn off the gas for a few minutes. If your gas powered water heater is in a well ventilated room then waiting 3 to 5 minutes after you have shut off the gas should suffice. In smaller closets or rooms that aren’t well ventilated, you will need to open a door or window to help trapped gas escape. This is a safety precaution to reduce the chance of explosion or fire due to a leakage or buildup of gas. Push down on the gas valve and turn it to the ‘pilot’ position.
