How Do You Relieve Stress Before A Monologue Audition?
“Good day. I’m Dr. Charles Grimes, and I’m speaking today on behalf of Expert Village about finding a theatrical monologue for use in auditions. It’s great to have some stress exercises that you can use on the day of the audition or as you’re preparing to rehearse your monologue. You can use these before you go into rehearsal, before you go on stage, and you can select which ones work for you and make it a routine, a ritual. Having it be a ritual is relaxing in and of itself. My actor friend, Hank, is going to demonstrate a few stretches and warm ups that he does to help himself with stress and insecurity. This is a simple stretch up to the ceiling, which is going to stretch out his body also stretch out his lungs so he’ll have more air also and be able to breathe. He’s also pretending to be a robot and he’s lifting up his shoulders, flopping them down, flopping down from the waist and experiencing the relaxation of that all over his body. He’s going to lift himself slowly up after str
