How Do You Reinstall The Windows 2000 Operating System?
Reinstalling the Windows 2000 operating system restores the operating system settings to their defaults, correcting problems with the OS. You can accomplish this by performing an in-place re-installation (otherwise known as a repair install) of the operating system. The re-installation procedure takes anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the speed of your computer. Insert the Windows 2000 CD into the computer. Restart the computer. When prompted, press any key to boot from the CD. Press “Enter” at the initial screen and “F8” to accept the license terms. Highlight the drive containing Windows 2000 and press “R” to perform a repair re-installation. Input your CD key (included with your Windows 2000 CD), computer information (such as your computer name, which can be anything you want) and network information (such as the name of your work group if your computer is networked) when prompted to complete the re-installation.
