A sound driver is software that allows a computer’s operating system to use a sound card. Bad device driver software is a common cause of computer errors and caches, so if you have recently installed a sound driver and have since experienced errors you may have had a bad installation. Reinstalling a sound card driver can potentially fix problems caused by a bad installation or data corruption. Click “Start,” right-click “Computer,” select “Manage,” then “Device Manager,” and then expand “Sound, Video and Game Controllers.” Right-click on your sound card in the list, select “Properties,” click on the “Driver” tab and then click “Uninstall (Advanced)” and then click “Ok” when asked if you are sure that you want to uninstall the driver.
