How Do You Rehydrate A Ceramic Slip?
All clay can be rehydrated as long as it has not been fired. Different clay bodies have various amounts of moisture content. Slip is a product where the clay particles are suspended in water. It is most often used for casting in molds. It is essentially a watery clay and can be reconstituted in a few days with a very simple procedure. Find a plastic container with a lid that will accommodate the dried clay. Break the clay into pieces that will fit into the plastic container. Cover the clay with water. Allow the clay to sit overnight. If the quantity of clay is large, it may take a few days to break down. Add more water as necessary to achieve the desired finished consistency. Stir frequently. When the clay has regained the thickness required, tighten the lid to help it retain this state.
