A MultiMediaCard (MMC) is a type of flash memory card. MMC cards took the place of ComactFlash memory cards, which were larger in physical size but unable to hold as much computer data. MMC cards have since been replaced by Secure Digital flash cards (SD). However, due to the still relative widespread use of MMC cards, knowing how to reformat corrupt MMC cards (and thus free up memory) is an important issue. Connect the memory card reader to your PC using the included USB or Firewire cable. Click on the “New Hardware” icon in your Start menu to recognize the card reader. Insert the corrupt MMC memory card into the card reader. Click “Open” in the dialog box that appears on your PC when the computer recognizes the inserted MMC card.
