How Do You Refinish Floors Without Sanding?
Beautifully finished hardwood floors add a touch of grace and elegance to any home. Unfortunately, heavy foot traffic can leave signs of wear and tear on a floor’s finish and a new finish will be necessary to restore your hardwood floor’s former beauty. To refinish floors, the original finish is typically sanded off but this can result in great clouds of dust coating the rest of your home. If the floor’s finish has yet to be worn away to expose the wood underneath you don’t need to sand to apply a new finish to your hardwood floor. Sweep the floor clean of any loose dust and grime with the broom. Buff the floor with the buffing machine with the light abrasive pad attachment. This will remove any marks on the old finish and scuff it enough to accept a new coat of polyurethane. Mop the floor to remove any excess dust. Apply a new coat of polyurethane to the floor with a clean brush. Allow the new finish to dry for at least eight hours before walking on the floor.
