How Do You Refinish A Wood Deck?

But when that deck surface starts to look less than inviting after years of wear and tear and exposure to extreme temperatures, pests, mold and decay, its time to give your failing flat friend a face-lift to turn it back into a space that makes you proud. Refinishing a wood deck is pretty simple; put aside a few hours and you’ll have your deck looking as good as new before the next block party. Clean your deck. Flush out any debris between the boards. Use a garden hose with a powerful nozzle, then run a putty knife or laminate scoring tool along each space. Spray the deck with deck cleaner or wood brightener, then scrub the deck with a stiff brush attached to a long handle. Work in small, convenient sections. Rinse thoroughly. Let the deck dry. Test the wood for mildew by dabbing a drop of liquid household bleach to a small black spot on the wood. Wait a couple of minutes and inspe
